Who is required to attend an eviction hearing in Texas?

In the Justice of the Peace Court, the landlord, or the landlord’s representative must attend. The court will issue a summons to the tenant(s) who must appear as well.  If they do not appear, the hearing will proceed without them. However, if the landlord or the landlord’s representative fails to appear for the hearing, the court will almost certainly dismiss the case.
